The Emerging Health Threats Forum is committed to providing quality information to the scientific and business communities. In order to do this, we need to know a little about you. You may be asked to submit personal information about yourself in order to use or receive services from us or through our website. Such services include email alerts of news stories and articles from the Emerging Health Threats Journal.
If you provide information to us, we will treat that information in accordance with this privacy policy. By submitting personal information to us, you are agreeing to use of this information by us and our service providers as described in this policy. |
| Cookies |
| We use cookies so that you don’t have to tell us information about yourself each time you use our website. This enables us to offer a more personalised service. You don’t need cookies to use the Forum website, although certain features do require the use of cookies, for example, if you choose to use the ‘Save My Password’ option when you login to save you having to enter your username each time. These details are then stored in a cookie on your computer. You can delete the cookie at any time you choose. |
| What about the information requested during registration? |
| When registering at the Forum’s website, we need information from you that identifies you personally. This includes your name, e-mail address, and country. We also ask some further questions so we can gain a clearer understanding of our users. We use some parts of your personal information (such as your general field of interest) to operate certain functions, for example filtering, contained within the website. We need your e-mail address in order to send you confirmation of your user identity and password. |
| Information we collect from visitors to our website |
We collect only the domain name, but not the e-mail address of visitors to our web pages, and any additional information volunteered by the consumer, such as survey information and/or site registrations. We also collect aggregate and user-specific information on what pages consumers access or visit. The information we collect is used for internal review, to improve the content of our web pages, to notify consumers about updates to our website, and occasionally used by us to contact consumers for marketing purposes. It is not sold or traded with other organisations for commercial purposes.
We may use information that you provide to improve the website, design, marketing strategy, and our products. We will keep your details for a reasonable period to allow us to do this work.
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been fulfilled, or if you no longer wish to continue being registered for our services. |

But it does work. |
| Links to Sponsors |
| The Forum is funded by the social responsibility budgets of large international corporations, thus we provide a number of links to our sponsors. Sponsors may send their own cookies to users, or otherwise collect data or solicit personal information. We assume no responsibility for the information gathering practices of websites that you are able to access through ours. We encourage you to review each website’s privacy policy before disclosing any personally identifiable information. Wherever possible, clicking on the logo of one of our sponsors will cause their website to appear in a new window. |
